HI all - Am writing this as snow falls hard all around us, so am very thankful that our hike was yesterday.
Ten of us met up at the P-3 trailhead as the weather began to change - latecomers were blamed for the deterioration. But, encouraged by the fact it was not raining at the time, Jerry led us out Rail trail, then Naverssen trail and then up and up the aptly named Halls of Manzanita trail. Wet weather was closing in when we reached the top for a partial view, water and chocolate stop before heading right back down.
Jerry timed the hike almost perfectly. The rain did catch us the last 15-20 minutes or so, but we reached the cars before the downpour started. Back in Jacksonville, eight of gratefully climbed the stairs to the warm welcoming La Fiesta dining room where we celebrated a great hike -- some with margaritas - and hot comfort food.
Respectfully submitted, scribe Liz Landreth
